Two storage protein genes in Plutella xylostella, PxAJSP-1 and PxBJHSP-2, were cloned and characterized. The results showed that PxAJSP-1 belongs to the arylphorin-like protein and PxBJHSP-2 belongs to the methionine-rich protein. Phylogenetic tree analyses revealed that both genes were relatively conservative among the insects of the same order. The expression pattern analyses by quantitative real-time PCR（qPCR）showed that PxAJSP-1 and PxBJHSP-2 were highly expressed in the fourth-instar larvae and pupae, respectively. And their expressions predominated in fat body than other tissues.
