地区人口素质提高对经济发展有积极意义,然而由于人口素质通常无法直接测量,因而很难定量分析人口素质提高对地区经济发展的作用。通过分析人口素质的内涵,建立地区人口素质的测度指标体系,构建地区人口素质影响经济发展的路径模型,并基于偏最小二乘法对地区人口素质的潜变量进行定量测度。结果表明：身体素质和劳动技能素质对地区经济发展的影响显著,文化素质通过促进劳动技能素质的提高对地区经济发展产生作用,投入性变量通过提高地区人口素质,能对地区经济发展产生更大的作用。

英文摘要：

The improvement of population quality has a positive significance to regional economic development. However,population quality cannot be measured directly. It is difficult to quantitatively analyze the effect of population quality improvement on the regional economic development. Through analyzing the connotation of population quality,an index system for measuring regional population quality was constructed. A path model was built to simulate the influence of population quality on economic development. The latent variables of regional population quality were then measured by using the partial least squares method. The results showed that physical quality and labor skill had significant influences on regional economic development. Cultural quality exerted influence on regional economic development through promoting labor skill. By improving population quality,input variables could have a greater effect on regional economic development.
