In plant cell, the calcium ion is a ubiquitous intracellular second messenger involved in numerous signaling pathway. Numerous recent studies have provided evidence that Ca^2+ plays a pivotal role in activating the plant's surveillance system against attempted microbial invasion. Recently, more concentration are payed on the role of specificity of calcium signaling in plant defense response. This article is presented to the latest advancement in the pattern and generation of the specificity of calcium signaling in plant defense response.
