The density and surface tension for pure ionic liquid [BMIM]CIO4 (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium perchlorate) were measured in the temperature range of 293. 15K to 353.15K. In terms of Glasserts theory, the thermodynamic properties of the ionic liquid were discussed with the standard molar entropy and lattice energy for [BMIM]CIO4 estimated. The thermal expansion coefficient,α=6.27×10-4K-1, calculated by the interstice model is in good agreement with a (experimental) = 5.46×10"K-1.
