By analyzing the status and problems of waterway construction in Gansu province,we introduce the concept of ecology into the construction of waterway,and expound the conception of ecology in the waterway design.The shipping safety should consist of not only the safety of people and ships,but also the safety of water eco-systems.Moreover,we present a complete evaluation system on eco-waterway,including the evaluation indices and evaluation methods.It is of referential significance for waterway construction in Gansu province.
