The chemical composition,pharmacological activity,mycelial fermentation and lignin degradation of Fomitopsis pinnicola are reviewed.In the chemical compositions,a number of triterpenoids,polysaccharides,cerebroside lipids,volatile substances and other ingredients are found in F.pinicola.In the pharmacological activity area,F.pinicola has many pharmacological effects, which are antitumor,antioxidation,antidiabetic,anti-inflammatory analgesic,antibacterial,hepatoprotective,and so on.In the mycelial fermentation,the best carbon source is glucose;the best nitrogen sources are yeast extract and malt juices.In addition,F.pinicola can degradate cellulose.
