Street vendor which is an important part of urban commerce has different spatial distribution with formal commerce. On the basis of the economic census and the vendors' supervisory statistics in Chaoyang District in Beijing from 2008-2010, this thesis evaluated the variance of spatial pattern between formal commerce and street vendors via the accessibility of gravity coefficient of formal commerce and vendors, and then classified the communities into five categories according to their Z scores. These five spatial types of communities are agglomerative community, formal commerce absolutely dominant community, formal commerce relatively dominant community, vendor absolutely dominant community and vendor relatively dominant community. These five types of communities showed concentric circle, sector model and multiple nuclei model in Chaoyang District in Beijing. Through multinomial logistic regression, this thesis demonstrated that community power represented by population density and demographic structure, market power represented by international capital and government power represented by the strength of supervision had significant influence on the spatial relationship between formal commerce and street vendor to various degrees. Formal commerce absolutely dominant communities, formal commerce relatively dominant communities and vendor relatively dominant communities appear concentric circles from downtown to the suburban areas which shows the reduction of demand. Furthermore, more rural migrants and low income people live in these areas. Agglomerative communities lie in some parts of the inner sphere of the formal commerce absolutely dominant communities. The intensity of government regulation is less strict in agglomerative communities and the extent of globalization is much higher in such type of communities, which reflects the limitation of government censorship.
