A novel complex of [Cd(HIDC)2·(H2O)2] ( H2 IDC ^- = 1H - imidazole - 4,5 - diearoxylate monoanion) was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG and single crystal X - ray diffraction. The title complex crystallizes in monoclinic with space group P21/n, a=0.50417(10)nm,b=2.3068(5)nm,c=0.66773(13)nm,β=111.30(3)°.y=0.7235(3)nm^3,Z=2,Mr=458.63,Dc=2.105g/cm^3,μ=1.577mm^-1,F(000)=452. R=0.0373,ωR=0.1451 Two N, O- bidentate H2IDC^-ligands and two water molecules are coordinated to cadmium(Ⅱ) atom. The cadmium atom displays an octahedral coordination geometry. The 3D supramolecular hydrogen bonding network structure is constructed via the intermolecular hydrogen bond interactions.
