Supported ionic liquid membrane(SILM) technology has been used widely for separating organic mixtures with the particular advantage of high flux,selectivity and stability.The excellencies of ionic liquids as liquid phase in SILM are summarized.The selection of material for SILM and the preparation methods of SILM are introduced.The application of SILM is also reviewed.Besides,the factors leading to the instability of SILM are analyzed.Furthermore,the prospects for the commercialization of SILM are presented.
