N,N- dithio -carboxyl diethylenetriamine ethyl polymer was synthesized in this paper. The addition and added order of sodium - hydroxide, the added order of carbon disulfide, the addition of diethylenetriamine, the reaction temperature and the reaction time are studied detailed. The polymer is characterized by means of IR, UV and melting point test. The polymer＇ s absorption and trapping property towards some heavy metal ions was studied. Studing results showed that the heavy metal ions were absorbed stably and Ag^＋、Cu^2＋ ,Zn^2＋ can be absorbed better especially. The polymer＇ s absorption property is better when pH≈5.
