As the bistable stochastic resonance (SR) can change the image signal's histogram distribution and affect the quality of its output, the image signal could be processed via SR. The method of two-dimensional bistable SR was proposed and it was proved to be more effective than one-dimensional bistable SR in removing the image's noise and improving the image's quality. By evaluating the image's quality objectively with the use of the indicators of the similarity coefficient and the deviation coefficient, the law of the bistable system parameters and the re-scaling SR step on the two-dimensional SR image's quality were obtained, which laid the basis for the practical research to realize the adaptive parameter optimization of the SR image processing.
