A large number of studies at home and abroad have showed that acupuncture-moxibustion treatment has a marked analgesic effect on various kinds of pain including visceral pain. This article takes intestinal diseases as the entry point and reviews recent 15 years＇ experimental studies of acupuncture-moxibustion treatment for visceral pain from three aspects： pain assessment methods, analgesic effects and analgesic mechanisms to provide scientific data for further studies on acupuncture-moxibustion treatment for visceral pain.
