The GM（1,1） model in Grey theory was used to predict and analyze the ground settlement of foundation pit in soft soil area after excavation,and the prediction result is close to the monitoring result.The result shows that,in GM（1,1） model,correct prediction result can be obtained by using the measured values of initial settlement to predict the settlement in the certain time of the future,therefore,the prediction result can be of certain guidance to the foundation pit support and excavation.
