Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin （NGAL） is a kind of lipocalin that seems to be a popular topic studied much recently.It might be closely related with the inflammation,tumor and kidney disease.In recent years,studies supported that NGAL can be used as a sensitive index of early acute kidney injury（AKI）,and it has a protective effect on kidney.Meanwhile,some recent studies found that NGAL can also be used as an effective and easy-measure detection marker of chronic kidney disease（CKD）,which is more sensitive than other indexes,and enables earlier discover of renal injury,thus opens up a new way for the prevention,early diagnosis,and treatment of kidney diseases.
