The structure of the steam network is described by the binary tree model which is the typical data structure model, and the pipe diameter and heat insulation thickness of the steam network are designed according to relevant specifications and parameters. The object functions and constraints are developed to optimize the design, and several design schemes for further selection are given. The feasibility and effectiveness of the modeling and optimization are discussed.
