Over the past decades, multiple types of stem cells, including embryonic stem cells(ESCs), induced pluripotent stem ceils (iPSCs) , skeletal myoblasts, bone marrow-derived stem/progenitor cells and cardiac stem cells (CSCs) , have been found to contribute to the repairment of damage caused by ischemic heart disease (IHD). Stem cell therapy has showed broad prospects for the development of regenerative medicine. In order to provide references for further basic research and clinical trials, this review introduces the studies of stem cells from different sources in the treatment of IHD.
