Objective: The study was to reveal the effect of direct electric fields on angiogenesis of chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane(CAM). Methods: Gelatin sponges were implanted on top of CAM, when chick embryos developed on the 8th day, vessels which towards gelatin and microvascular density(MVD) in gelatin were counted on the 12th day. Results: On CAM model, numbers of vessels at the sponge-CAM boundary and MVD were significantly different between group of 150 mWmm, 200 mV/mm and group of saline (p〈 0. 01). Conclusions: The study has shown that direct electric fields, 150 mV/mm and 200 mV/mm, could promote the angiogenesis on CAM model.
