An improved transversal superresolution filter based on radial birefringent crystal is proposed. The improved superresolution filter is tunable in a wider range of superresolution by changing the angle between the polarization direction of two polarizers and the' optical axis of crystal of the radial birefringent element, and on the same condition the superresolution performance and the depth of focus can be greatly enhanced compared with the recently proposed continuous amplitude filter. The improved transversal superresolution filter can provide a further flexibility in practical applications.
