General Secretary of the Communist Party of China （CPC）Xi Jinping, in his series of important talks, has revealed the people-centered development thought, which leads the Leadership of CPC to practice new concepts, new thoughts and new strategies. This new thought originates from Marxist historical materialism, CPC＇s fundamental purpose ＂serving the people wholeheartedly＂, and the practices in reform and opening. Labor economics mainly pertaining theoretical and policy issues of people＇s livelihood should follow such a thought. From the perspective of shared development, one of the new development concepts proposed to guide the implementation of the 13th Five-Year Plan, this paper tries to illustrate problems and challenges in the areas of people＇s livelihood and identity directions of theoretical innovation of the Chinese-style labor economics
