The independent innovation ability of small and medium sized enterprises is an important cornerstone of its sustainable development. This paper mainly used the method of the structure equation model, with the data of questionnaire survey obtained from small and medium sized enterprises in Jiangsu Province, discussing several major factors affecting the ability of independent innovation of small and medium sized enterprises. At last, this paper put forward some related suggestions from the three aspects of enterprise, in- dustrv and government.
