Bi syndrome is a common disease in modern society. In Jinkui Yaolve, ZHANG Zhong-jing formulated many decoctions for this disease based on pattern differentiation and treatment, one of which is the Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction.This paper explores the theory that ZHANG Zhong-jing used in the treatment of Bi syndrome, a miscellaneous disease, with Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction by comparing the principle, method, formula and medicines of Guizhi Decocotion, Mahuang Decocotion and other similar decoctions which are used to treat external contractions, in combination with explanations of later medical experts.
