Molten salt is molten state liquid formed by the salt material melting. The high temperature molten salt has many practical advantages. In this paper, the advantages, classification, applications and researching progress of the high temperature molten salt system were reviewed. Taking all kinds of the high temperature molten salt system as starting point, application field, typical system as well as recent re- searching progress of the high temperature molten salt system were emphatically introduced. The problems existing in the using process of the high temperature molten salt were put forward, and its developing trend was predicted.
