This paper takes the multi-locus genotype data as the co-variable to the confounder and proposes a new approach using mixture models to detect the association between a candidate gene and a disease,while there is substructure in the population in a case-control study. The proposed approach makes full use of the available information and stratifies the population using genetic markers while considering that Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium holds in each subpopulation.
