This paper studies the development of contract theory and its evolution history, and then compares the similarities and differences of the assumptions and main points between principal-agent theory, transaction cost theory and incomplete contract theory from the perspective of transaction attributes. In the last, brief comments about contract theory＇s application and future development are put forward.
