Based on the dissolution of the rare-earth fire materials by hydrochloric acid and nitric acid and perchloric acid, eliminating effect of iron ion by hydrogen peroxide, and subsequent precipitation by oxalic acid, the total rare earth contents were determined by gravimetric method. The recovery rate was 99.3% - 100.5%, with standard deviation of 0. 054%, and relative standard deviation of 0. 071%. The operation was simple and convenient, and accurate results could be obtained quickly.
