在寡头竞争的市场环境下,企业通过进行特别投资变得突出,可以获得竞争优势。在Hotelling空间差异化模型的基础上,建立一个两期动态博弈模型,研究企业变得突出的激励以及产品差异和突出对于企业竞争和消费者行为的影响,并刻画出竞争均衡的特征。通过分析均衡时社会福利和社会有效福利之间的关系,发现均衡时的社会福利和社会有效福利并不一致,企业在选择是否变得突出时,既可能存在过度激励,也可能存在激励不足。
In an oligopoly market,prior to competing in the market,firms may get prominence over other firms by special investments.Basing on Hotelling's model of spatial differentiation,we develop a twostage dynamic game model to study the incentives for firms to get prominence,and characterize the impact of product differentiation and getting prominence on competition of firms and behaviors of consumers,the structure of competitive equilibrium.We also analyze the relationship between equilibrium social welfare and social efficient welfare,and show that equilibrium social welfare does not coincide with social efficient welfare.When firms choose to get prominence or not,either"excess incentives"or"lack incentives"may occur.
