In existing researches, trust and risk allocation are believed to be important factors affecting the performance of project management, indicating that it is particularly important to study the impact mechanism of trust on risk allocation. Based on the literature review of dynamic research between trust and risk allocation in construction project, a conceptual model for the relationship between trust and risk allocation was established using the grounded theory through the semi-structured interviews of 60 key project managers in 30 successful projects. The findings are as follows. Initial trust between owner and contractor stems from the competency driven based on prequalification, cognition driven based on cooperation experience and value driven based on market reputation. The dynamic characteristics of risk allocation may be reflected by the initial risk allocation in contracting stage and risk re-allocation in contractual stage. The two stages have obvious comovement based on the post-support system. From the perspective of influence relation, trust has a reverse impact on the complete degree of initial risk allocation, but it has the positive impact on post-support system. Additionally, trust has positive impact on the scale of risk re-allocation and implementation efficiency.
