The macro background for product innovation is first elaborated from three aspects: scientific and technology improvement, product value-added and transnational corporations' impact. Then the necessity to upgrade and deepen “product innovation management” research is proposed by analyzing product innovation environment's great change, product innovation major problems and corresponding causes. Finally, the significance of “product innovation management” is stated.
