Ultra-dense small cell networks( SCNs) play an important role in satisfying people's demand of higher quality wireless communications services. This paper summarizes the development vision and corre-sponding key technologies in the fifth-generation mobile communications(5G),analyzes the important role and challenges of small cell networks in future wireless communications systems and gives corresponding solutions,and proposes solutions for solving problems exiting in uplink/downlink communications when the small cell networks coexist with macro networks. The related contents and suggestions can provide clear reference for the further development of small cell networks.
