A scheme of characteristic finite volume method for solving nonlinear convection-dominated equations is constructed. The new scheme can reduce the numerical oscillations of the convection-dominated equations and simplify calculation. Convergence analysis and error estimates are also established. The numerical example result shows that the algorithm is effective.
