A salen-type pentanuclear dysprosium complex [ Dy5L4 (NO3)4 ( CH3O)2]·NO3·3CH2Cl(1)(H2L = N, N'-bis(2-oxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-1,2-phenylenediamine) has been afforded by reaction of H2L and Dy(NO3)3·6H2O- X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that complex 1 is of a unique pentanuclear quadruple-decker structure. Magnetic analysis unveils that complex 1 is of slow magnetic relaxation.
