The principle and structure were described about the microbial fuel cell of BOD sensor. The factors were analyzed on the response time, the battery conversion and stability of the fuel cell. The microbial fuel cell was applied to BOD on-line monitoring for its fast response, good stability and easy to operation. The important direction of research in the field was to build low cost, high-powered BOD sensor of microbial fuel cell and device of BOD on-line detection.
