中国的民族数学研究多围绕少数民族地区数学教育需要展开,并为数学教育提供课程资源。20多年的研究发展,使得民族数学已成为文化人类学与民俗学研究的重要领域,并使"数学人类学"这一新兴学科在中国初露端倪。民族数学还将成为人类学、民族学、历史学、考古学、社会学、哲学、数学、教育学等多学科交叉研究的重要内容。当前人们对民族数学的认识还十分有限,对中国民族数学研究的现状进行梳理、分析,探讨其学科归属、研究对象以及方法,并在国际视野下展望它未来的发展前景,使之成为民族教育的重要支点。
The study on ethnomathematics in China is mainly focused on mathematics education in ethnic minority areas and it provides course resources for mathematics education. Through research and development for more than twenty years, ethnomathematics has become an important field in the studies of cultural anthropology and folklore with mathematical anthropology emerging as a new and promising branch of study in China. Ethnomathematics will constitute an important part in cross-over studies of anthropology, ethnology, history, archaeology, sociology, philosophy, mathematics and pedagogy. At present, people' understanding of it is still limited, so it is necessary to analyze its present studies, discuss its disciplinary affiliation, studying subjects and methods and look into its future development from an international perspective. It is believed that ethnomathematics will become an important branch to stimulate mathematics education in ethnic minority areas where the total population is one hundred and twenty three millions.
