Incorporating cognitive radio （CR） mechanism into ultra wideband （UWB）, the detect and avoid （DAA） based UWB wireless communication technique is capable of solving the interference between UWB communication systems and existing wireless communications systems. According to the key problem in DAA, spectrum shaping for UWB transmitted waveform, the state of arts on the research work is reviewed, and the development trend is analyzed.
