In order to effectively increase the durability of concrete beam sections, a reactive powder concrete- normal concrete （RPC-NC） combined beam section was designed. A 28 d accelerated carbonation comparison experiment was performed, and the RPC-NC combined section was proved to be much more durable than NC section. Based on the analysis of the carbonation characteristic of the proposed combined section, a further improvement for the proposed combined section was put forward in order to obtain a nearly equal durable section.
