Ferrocenyl phosphines with methoxy and hydroxy groups have been synthesized and evaluated as supporting ligands in the palladium-catalyzed Suzutd-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. It was found that the phosphine having methoxy group as supporting lidand afforded better palladium catalyst with Pd(OAc)2, which can catalyze electron-rich aryl bromides and electron-deficient aryl chlorides to couple with phenylboronic acid to form the corresponding biaryls in high yields.
