As a crucial member in the Forkhead Box family, FoxO plays a major role in the animal cell differentiation, metabolism, immunization and apoptosis. FoxO was found to be an essential regulatory factor iri the follicular development in mammalian. The expression of the foxo3a gene was detected by re- verse transcriptase technology and Western blotting for studying the function of FoxO in the fish reproduc- tive development. It's revealed that the expression level of foxo3a in the ovary is higher than that in the spermary in zebrafish. The results indicated that the transcription factor FoxO3a may play an important role in ovarian development in fish.
