Objective To isolate and identify lectin-producing lactobacillus from sauerkraut juice. Methods The lectin-producing lactobacillus was isolated by hemagglutination assay and identified by polymerase chain reaction （PCR） amplification of variable regions of the 16S rDNA gene. Results This strain was gram-positive, short bacilliform and lactic acid-producing. The homology to Lactobacillus plantarum strain p215 was 99 %. Conclusion The lectin-producing lactobacillus is obtained and identified as Lactobacillus plantarum.
