ArcGIS Engine is a typical representative of secondary development of embedded GIS. A network analysis system is set up by using the developing technology of embedded GIS and taking into consideration of the main factors of the network composed of various roads and pipelines. Preliminary research is made on the organization of the road data of the shortest path of urban roads, the relevant technique and methods, and an experimental environment is built.
