A Nickel-substituted aluminophosphate NH4 [Ni (H2O)2Al2 (PO4)3] has been synthesized hydrothermally in the presence of piperazine and propylamine as organic additaments. Single-crystal refinement showed that is different from most of the metal-substituted aluminophosptates, Ni in the structure is octahedral coordinated, and is distinguished from that of Al, which is trigonal-bipyramidal coordinated. The single crystal data, elemental analysis, and Raman spectroscopy confirmed that NH4 [Ni (H2O)2Al2 (PO4)3] contained only NH4^+ cations in the 8-ring channels as compensating ions. Thermal analysis revealed that this material was thermally stable after heated at 350 ℃ for 2 h in air.
