FTO基因是最近发现的一个与肥胖相关的基因,广泛地分布于生物界中,在动物多种组织中均有表达,而在下丘脑中表达最高。FTO基因的表达产物是一种核酸修复酶,能作用于下丘脑弓状核,调节食欲和能量代谢。基因组关联分析发现:FTO基因内有许多单核苷酸多态性位点,这些单核苷酸多态性位点与肥胖和胰岛素敏感性有关,FTO基因的变异增加肥胖和2-型糖尿病的风险。FTO基因是肥胖和2型糖尿病的候选新基因。
FTO (fat mass and obesity associated) gene is new gene which was identified to be related to obesity in recent years. FTO gene widely presents in the bio-resources and expresses in various tissues, especially high in hypothalamus. The expressed product of FTO gene is a nuclease which acts on the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus and regulates appetite and energy metabolism. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) indicates that there are lots of single nucleotide polymorphism sites (SNPs) in FTO gene, these SNPs are associated with obesity and insulin sensitivity, variation of FTO gene increases the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes. FTO gcne is considered as a new candidate gene related to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
