Because of the limitation of ethics and the hardship of getting human colon in vitro,the study on human colon is largely limited.To understand the types of colonic motor patterns and the neurogenic and myogenic features,the study on animal colon is extremely important.Based on the organ bath or muscle strips,calcium imaging,ion channel detection,colonic manometry and spatiotemporal mapping are used to identify the colonic motor patterns and the mechanisms underlying those patterns,and to provide experimental experience for studying human colonic motor patterns and the mechanisms.
