Let F be a finite field with q elements, where q is a positive power of an odd prime p. In this paper, there are two classes of three-weight and a class of two-weight linear codes over Fp constructed by using the trace function Tr from F to Fp. The weight distributions of these classes of linear codes are also determined. In addition, these classes of linear codes can be used in secret sharing schemes.
