Lactoferrin （LF）, also known as lactotransferrin （LTF）, is one of the most important bioactivators in bovine milk. This article has reviewed the contents and distribution, the separation and purification together with qualitative and quantitative detection methods of LF. Furthermore, the application of LF in food, animal production and other fields has also been elucidated in this paper.
