Many years' studies have shown that acupuncture can induce the responses of nerves, mastocytes and chemical substances in aeuppoint micro-circumstances. The authors consider that nerves, mastocytes and chemical substances in local aeuppoint micro-circumstances interact after acupuncture to form key links and modulating factors in the network of acupuncture effect triggering, which trigger and successively amplify an acupuncture signal to produce a whole regulating effect. Based on this hypothesis, a systematic study of the interrelationship between nerves, mastocytes and chemical substances in the acupoint and their actions in initiating an acupuncture effect in an experimental research on acupuncture treatment for visceral diseases may make a substantial advance in studying acupuncture mechanisms of action.
