12-Phenyl-substituted-tetrahydro-β-carbolinediketopiperazine was synthesized from L-tryptophan methyl ester hydrochloride by a four-step reaction of Pictet-Spengler,Schotten-Baumann,intramolecular ester amidation and removing deprotection.The structures were characterized by 1H NMR,13C NMR,IR and elemental analysis.
