A survey on moth diversity was conducted in the coniferous forest zone on the northern slope of Changhai Mountain during June 2003 and September 2006. A total of 118 species belonging to 12 families were recorded. Geometridae and Noontide are the dominant groups. The differences in species composition and individual number between months are obvious, and the diversity index, specific richness and individual number are the highest in July and the lowest in June. The diversity index is not significantly correlated with the evenness index （ r = - 0.15 ）. Similarity coefficient of moth community is very low between months.
