The design and implementation of remote sensing image database is used to manage multi - source remote sensing image data. By calling GDAL library, this paper discusses multi - source image data read, building image blocks, image pyramids, image data and metadata input and building effective spatial index. The reasonable level of the pyramid data is displayed according to the window display area after buffer processing. Then metadata management is designed. And finally the database can be used for integrated management of both image data and metadata.
