This paper presents the category, name, Released time, Approved time and status quo of WiMAX. Furthermore, we research into the new standard of lEEE 802.16g：2007 from five aspects, i.e. protocol model network control and management system, network reference model General Packet Convergence Sub-layer （GPCS）, Media Independent Handover （MIH）. In conclusion, we introduce the principium and application of lEEE 802.16k.
