Liquid-phase synthesis of methyl 6-amino-5-cyano-4-aryl-2-methyl-4H-pyran-3-carboxylates was achieved using ionic liquid bound β-keto esters and arylmethylidenemalononitriles. These ionic liquid bound β-keto esters were synthesized with 1-（2-hydroxypropyl）-3-methyl-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate and methyl acetoacetate. The target compounds were obtained with high yields （83%- 90%） and high purities （96%- 99%）.
